Some background information...
In casting inspection, it is important to study the porous structure inside the part as critical decisions rely on the outcome of this analysis.
Avizo Fire software provides powerful quantification tools that allow fast and accurate analysis of porous materials (at any scale), making the decision process about the part's integrity much more reliable and efficient.
Screencast content
This screencast is a practical example that will guide you through the workflow for quantifying pores in an aluminum die casting part. A region of interest in the full casting is extracted to study quantitatively the distribution and
configuration of individual pores.
Studied part:
The studied part is a die cast (used for car and truck diesel engines as Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) housing). The part is composed of an aluminum casting and two integrally casted stainless steel inserts. Data was acquired using an industrial CT system.
About the presenter:
Peter Westenberger is a highly experienced application engineer at VSG. He works with key industrial players in the field of non-destructive testing, across a wide range of industries.
