Overview & Responsibilities
You will build and maintain the technical relationship with VSG customers. You will need to understand customers' applications, map them vs. VSG products and capabilities and help implement them. You will develop demonstrations, benchmarks, prototypes, and customized solutions based on our product portfolio. You will attend and contribute to the organization of exhibitions, conferences and seminars. You will work very closely with our Sales and Engineering divisions. You will be responsible for assisting the sales team in driving revenue by helping qualify accounts, preparing and delivering solution-based product presentations, and delivering proof of concepts which meet customer business requirements.
- Location: The position is based in Houston (TX) USA - About 30% travel is required

- Territory: USA and Canada
Main responsibilities:
- Work in a sales environment on strategic accounts that have critical needs for hands-on Open Inventor toolkit expertise and use of high-performance 3D visualization solutions.
- Consult on technical issues such as optimal implementation of VSG products, but also provides support to define and implement software architecture and code for achieving powerful 3D visualization.
- Serve as the main technical contact for large qualified accounts who subscribe to Open Inventor Premium Support Agreement.
- Understand the strategic importance of particular customers. Gather technical information from customer to serve VSG's product strategy.
- Complete report for each mission.
- Provide pre-sales support. Responsibilities include explaining the features and benefits of the VSG solution; comparing it to competitor's products; delivering product presentations to technical and management personnel and communicating with sales and product managers regarding customer needs.
- The Application Engineer is responsible for handling any technical question or issue which arises during a sales cycle and setting appropriate customer expectations. Another aspect of the Application Engineer position is working with Technical Support to resolve customer issues.
- Participate to the development of technology prototypes and demos for R&D, customers and prospects.
- Participate in content creation of technical materials and presentations (highlighted features, samples…)
Qualifications
- BSCS or equivalent experience. MS degree a plus. Minimum 5 years’ experience in 3D programming: OpenGL, Open Inventor, other scenegraph APIs (OpenSceneGraph, Coin3D …), VTK, Hue Space, DirectX, QT, 3D volume and meshes visualization, etc.
- C++ and Microsoft .Net programming (Java a plus)
- Good knowledge of the Windows and Linux developer environments.
- General knowledge of visualization and compute cluster based systems.
- General knowledge of Oil & Gas software and workflows
- GPU Computing experience a plus (CUDA, OpenCL)
- Oil/Gas, Geosciences, Energy commercial experiences a plus.
- Excellent communication skills. Must have ability to understand and explain company products and potential applications; Demonstrated proficiency in leading and participating in a distributed team environment.
